About the pharmacy technician exams
There are two national certification exams. Both lead to the CPhT credential, and most states accept either. Check your state board of pharmacy before you choose.
PTCE (PTCB): 90 questions (80 scored), 1 hour 50 minutes, $129. Eligibility: finish a PTCB-recognized training program or have 500 hours of pharmacy technician work experience. Passing score is 1,400 on a 1,000–1,600 scale.
ExCPT (NHA): about 100 questions. Eligibility: high school diploma or GED plus a pharmacy technician training program in the last 5 years, or 1,200 hours of supervised pharmacy work in the last 3 years.
